Dwight Arthur
Lead Photographer
Photek is the latest creative endeavour of Dwight Arthur. He has been visually focused from an early age, pursuing photography and fine art as personal passions. He got his first exposure to photography at about age four in his father’s darkroom, and he has been hooked on the medium ever since. By the time he had reached his teens he had gained a strong reputation as a skilled artist and photographer, winning various competitions and holding a successful gallery showing of drawings at age 17. His fine art is represented in private collections across the country and in the Alberta Art Foundation permanent collection.
Dwight loves all aspects of photography, and engages in both commercial and personal work with equal zeal and attention to detail.
It was only natural that when it came to choosing a profession Dwight would follow his heart and, in turn, work as a fine artist, graphic designer, and commercial photographer. In recent years he has also decided to share his wealth of experience with others by teaching photography—both with Continuing Education at Red Deer College, McBain Camera and through private coaching.
Dwight loves all aspects of photography, and engages in both commercial and personal work with equal zeal and attention to detail. He is a consummate craftsman, but also places high value on the creative aspects of image making. His philosophy is that photography is all about communication. A good photo is one that clearly communicates the intended brand’s message with no detours or distractions. His advice to all creative individuals is to “have something to say, and say it with clarity and enthusiasm!” Whether it is information or emotion that needs to be conveyed, Dwight knows how to reach his audience.
Dwight is a life-long resident of Red Deer, Alberta. He loves the drama of the landscape, the warmth and energy of the people, and the vibrancy of Alberta’s commerce and culture. He has no plans to ever leave for long, although he would love to spend more time exploring the world beyond Alberta’s borders, camera in hand. When not creating he is most likely to be found with his family, enjoying down time with his wife, four kids, two dogs, and a host of other critters that call his place home.
